lice FAQ @ The Nitpickers – Edmonton Lice Treatment

Head lice are a nuisance. When untreated, 1 louse can leave 5-10 nits behind. Picking those nits is essential in preventing an epidemic nightmare!!!
Lice tend to gravitate to warm areas: around the base of the neck and behind the ears.
Lice crawl very quickly but do not fly.
Nits that are within ½ inch of the scalp may hatch later.
Nits do not comb or brush out easily.
Head lice are not a sign of uncleanliness. Head lice love clean hair.

Lice treatments should only be used on persons who have lice.
Treatment kills lice but not all of the nits.
Lice may not die immediately. Chemical treatments work for 7-10 days after use.
You will not get all the nits out in one picking. After treatment picking needs to be a daily occurence.
For 7-10 days do not use hair dryers, hair conditioners, vinegar rinses and avoid chlorinated swimming pools.
Make head lice checks a weekly part of your child’s hygiene routine.
